Golden Hour Maternity Session at Wellington Beach

When Jarnail and Natalie reached out about booking a maternity session while visiting Prince Edward County, I figured that Wellington Beach would be the perfect location. They were taking a little babymoon getaway from Toronto—just the two of them before baby arrives—and wanted somewhere beautiful, quiet, and sandy to document this season.

This is their first baby (a little girl!), and watching the way they interacted during the shoot honestly melted me. Some couples need a little time to warm up in front of the camera, but not these two. They were playful, excited, and completely connected. I would give a simple prompt, and instead of just doing the thing, they would lean into it—make it their own. You could tell they were totally in sync and truly enjoying the moment together.

One of my favorite parts of the session was when we did a few solo portraits of Natalie. Jarnail stood off to the side, just watching her, and the look in his eyes said everything. He was in awe of her—completely smitten. It was such a beautiful reminder that maternity sessions aren’t just about the baby bump. They’re about this chapter—the love, the anticipation, the team that came before the tiny human.

For styling, Natalie wore two outfits: one that flowed perfectly with the beach tones and sunset light, and another timeless combo—jeans and a white button-up—that let her bump be the star. We had originally planned to shoot on another day, but it ended up being dark and windy, so we rescheduled—and I’m so glad we did. The golden hour light on this evening made everything glow.

I left this shoot feeling so full. It was easy, effortless, and so meaningful to witness this season of life for them. My hope is that when they look back on these photos in a few years, they feel the quiet joy of this time—just the two of them, about to become three. That nostalgic ache of remembering what it felt like to wait for the most life-changing love they’d ever know.

If you're expecting and thinking about a maternity session, let this be your sign. This is one of the last moments it's just the two of you. It’s not just a photoshoot—it’s a celebration of everything you’ve created together, and I don’t take that lightly.

If you’re a photographer and wondering how I edited this dreamy golden hour glow—these images were edited using my Signature Presets, which you can find here. They’re designed to bring warmth, softness, and consistency to your galleries without overthinking it.

And if you're expecting and dreaming of your own maternity session—whether you're local to Prince Edward County or just visiting like Jarnail and Natalie—I would love to photograph this chapter for you. You can book directly through my website here. Can’t wait to hear your story.
