A Cozy Autumn Grove Family Session in Stone Mills

Fall in Stone Mills always feels like something out of a dream.

The Golden leaves, sunlight and the calm that seems to settle over everything this time of year.

This sweet family joined me for my Autumn Grove Minis to capture their first photos with their new baby, and it was one of those sessions that felt slow and tender in the best way (even if it was only 20 minutes!)… There’s nothing quite like photographing a newborn outdoors. Their little one was cozy in a knit sweater, wrapped in his parents’ arms, while their golden retriever sat proudly beside them; the perfect first family portrait.

If you’re a new mom bringing your baby to a session like this, the biggest thing I can tell you is to let go of the idea of “perfect.” You’ve done the hardest part already… showing up. Your baby doesn’t need to smile, and you don’t need to know what to do. We move slow, take breaks, and capture moments as they naturally unfold. Sometimes that means soft cuddles, sometimes it means quiet pauses… and that’s exactly what makes the photos so meaningful.
