A Family Session on New Beginnings | At Home Family Session
I don’t even know where to START with this family session because it felt like such a full circle moment. I’ve been photographing Karley and Kurt for what feels like forever… their winter engagement, their fall, rainy wedding, an at-home branding session, the most insane sunset maternity photos, newborn pictures of a little, teeny, tiny Owen before my studio closed and NOW… here we are, documenting them as a whole family (and Daisy of course, who always finds her way into the photos). And this time it’s even sweeter because it wasn’t just a family session… it was a maternity session too, as they get ready to welcome their last baby into the world.
This time was extra special because we did the photos on their brand new property where they’re building their forever home. I love that these aren’t just family and maternity photos, but a little piece of the story they’re creating for the future. You can feel the excitement in the air out there, and I just know this land will hold so many memories for them.
Owen has officially become my new bestie. He’s at that perfect age where everything feels like an adventure and he can’t wait to tell you ALL about it! Watching him with Karley and Kurt is enough to make my heart burst… you can see how loved he is in every single frame.
Karley herself is someone I admire so deeply. She’s a fellow entrepreneur and one of those people who seems to juggle everything with so much grace; her faith, her role as a wife and mom, running her business, and still managing to love on her clients so well. She inspires me every time we spend time together, and photographing her family never feels like “work.”
Sessions like this are why I love being a Prince Edward County family photographer. It’s not just about pretty photos… it’s about capturing the in-between moments, the laughs, the cuddles, the start of something new. Leaving this shoot, my heart felt so full and we got to celebrate the most beautiful thing of all; the beginning of their next chapter as a family of four (plus Daisy, so five).
