A Romantic Backyard Wedding in Prince Edward County with a Clear Tent Reception | Mattea & Noah

FROM THE MOMENT I ARRIVED AT MATTEA AND NOAH’S BACKYARD WEDDING IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, IT WAS CLEAR THIS DAY WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL.

A countryside celebration filled with cowboy hats, emotional vows, golden fields, and a dance floor that eventually turned into a pool party.

Mattea and Noah were married on her parents’ property in Prince Edward County, surrounded by open countryside and the kind of peaceful setting that makes backyard weddings feel incredibly special.

One of the things I love most about photographing backyard weddings is how personal they feel. There’s something different about celebrating in a place that already holds years of memories. Instead of feeling like a venue, it feels like home. I’ve photographed a few weddings with this family over the years, and every time I arrive at their property it just feels right.

The morning of the wedding was relaxed and full of excitement as everyone slowly arrived and settled in for the day. Mattea spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids, who wore the most beautiful mix of vibrant pink dresses that felt absolutely perfect for a summer wedding in Prince Edward County.

Her makeup, done by Megan Brown Artistry, was soft, glowing, and effortlessly beautiful. Meanwhile, Noah was doing exactly what Noah does best; keeping everyone entertained and laughing while getting ready for the biggest moment of his life.

If you know Noah, you know he’s always the life of the party. But the moment he saw Mattea later that day, it became very clear that behind all the jokes is someone who is completely and deeply in love with her.

And their first look proved it immediately.

When everything was set, Mattea and Noah met for their first look in the tree line. Noah, who’s known for his humor, couldn’t hold back his tears the moment he turned around. They read private vows from booklets, surrounded by the soft summer breeze. It was a moment just for them…a quiet pause before the excitement of the ceremony and the wild fun of the reception that followed.

After their first look, Mattea and Noah took a few quiet moments together before we moved into their portraits and wedding party photos. One of the biggest benefits of doing a first look is having time to slow down and actually enjoy these moments together before the ceremony begins.

Surrounded by the open countryside of Prince Edward County, we wandered through the front yard and captured some of the most relaxed and joyful portraits of the day.

Mattea and Noah’s ceremony took place right on the front lawn of her parents’ property, surrounded by trees and the open countryside that makes Prince Edward County weddings feel so special.

Guests gathered under the summer sun, many holding parasols as they waited for the ceremony to begin. One of the most meaningful moments happened as Mattea walked down the aisle while her older brother Zac sang and played guitar. It was such a personal and emotional way to begin the ceremony, and you could feel how much it meant to everyone there.

Their ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, including a beautiful surprise when Mattea asked one of her close friends to sign their marriage license during the ceremony. There were tears, laughter, and so many smiles as Mattea and Noah promised forever in the place that already held so many memories for their family.

Mattea and Noah’s reception took place just steps away from the ceremony in a beautiful clear tent set up on the property by Glasshouse Events. One of the things I loved most about this setup was how the tent overlooked the surrounding countryside, letting the entire celebration still feel connected to the landscape around them.

Inside the tent, the reception space felt warm and inviting with long harvest tables, soft pink florals, and beautiful wicker pendant lights hanging above the dance floor. The design perfectly matched the relaxed summer atmosphere of a backyard wedding while still feeling elegant and intentional.

With planning and coordination by Polly Event Company and incredible catering from Barn & Country, the evening flowed effortlessly as guests settled in for dinner, speeches, and a night of celebrating Mattea and Noah.

Mattea and Noah’s reception began with dinner and heartfelt speeches under the clear tent as the sun slowly started to dip behind the surrounding fields. Friends and family shared stories, laughter, and a few emotional moments that had everyone smiling.

One of my favorite things about backyard weddings is how relaxed the evening feels. Guests moved easily between the tent, the yard, and the pool while the celebration slowly built into a full night of dancing and celebrating.

As the light softened outside, we slipped away from the reception for a few minutes to catch golden hour in the open fields nearby — a quiet moment for Mattea and Noah to soak in the day together before the party truly began.

As the sun disappeared behind the fields and Mattea and Noah returned to the reception, the celebration quickly shifted into full party mode.

Their first dances kicked off the evening inside the clear tent as friends and family gathered around the dance floor, cheering them on and soaking in the last moments of the formal part of the night. The energy in the tent was incredible, and it didn’t take long before the dance floor filled with guests ready to celebrate.

But in true Mattea and Noah fashion, the party didn’t stop there.

Once the dancing was underway, the mechanical bull made its appearance and quickly became the center of attention. Guests took turns attempting to stay on while everyone else cheered, laughed, and documented the chaos from the sidelines.

As the night went on and the summer air cooled off, the celebration eventually spilled toward the pool, where guests fully embraced the carefree backyard wedding atmosphere and jumped in to end the night in the most unforgettable way.

It was the perfect ending to a day that felt joyful, personal, and completely true to who Mattea and Noah are together.

Prince Edward County continues to be one of the most beautiful places in Ontario to celebrate a wedding, especially when couples choose to host their day somewhere meaningful to them. Backyard weddings like Mattea and Noah’s are always such an incredible reminder that the most memorable celebrations happen when couples create a day that truly reflects who they are. If you're planning a Prince Edward County wedding and looking for a photographer who loves documenting emotional, relaxed celebrations in beautiful countryside settings, I would love to hear about your plans.
