I Want All Couples To Learn From This Laid-Back Front Porch Wedding

As I pulled down the long dirt driveway, the leaves on the trees rustled and I caught a glimpse of the wrap around porch where two of my favourite people would soon say their vows to each other. If you’re engaged, or planning a wedding, I want you to think of Leigh-Anna and Jason the next time you feel that bit of anxiety start to bubble up; when you’re stressed about table settings, bridesmaids dresses, or what bus company will bring your guests to their destination. I don’t want to say too much about this couple because I want the photos to tell their story, but I do want to give them a virtual round of applause for how they approached their wedding.

I love the idea of wedding planning (I think that would have been my next career choice if I wasn’t obsessed with taking the pictures). I think that couples sometimes fall into a trap of choosing what style goes together visually, or what we’re told is the most popular. But I can say this time, I’m the proud photographer of a couple who went in the opposite direction. This weddings, style, vibe, SENSATION, was 100% Leigh-Anna and Jason; from the front porch ceremony, to the Toronto Blue Jay themed cake.

I am enthused by how each detail flowed with their actual personalities. I believe that by doing this they created a laid-back yet fun atmosphere that kept their guests comfortable, entertained and smiling. Leigh-Anna is an elementary school teacher, and a passionate one at that. Moments before guests arrived she was still in the yard, organizing with her (quite large) binder, while Jason (the silly one) was cheers-ing his groomsmen with their baseball bat beer mugs in the middle of a field. Leigh-Anna and Jason’s character complimenting each other is the understatement of the year.

Please couples. Make your wedding all about you. Forget the trends if they don’t feed your soul. I promise you and your guests will enjoy it so much more than you could imagine.
