Intimate Evening Wedding At The Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County, Ontario
Have you ever been to a Drake wedding? It’s an absolute must (the venue and the rapper - both get a 5 star rating from me)! I specifically remember, as I drove the whopping ten minutes from my home to the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County, listening to the brand new Drake album in my car, which may not seem important since you’re here to read and see about a wedding… but it is. That was one of my favourite things about Robert John and Sierra, total Drake fans and proud of it! These two were cool, collected and full of smiles during the entire wedding planning process and especially on their big day.
Something I have really grown to appreciate since being a wedding vendor are couples who can keep it classic, but totally authentic at the same time. If you’ve seen my work, you know I love an elegant gown, a man in a traditional suit and all the details that stand the test of time. But, I especially love deep creative souls, people who live full throttle as who they are and not who they’re told to be, people who wear their heart on their sleeves. I love passion, honesty and real, raw moments that I get to beautifully capture. Luckily, these two had many of those!
It’s hard to know where to begin when every single detail was above and beyond! The Drake Devonshire held 24 of the couples closest friends and family, in a beautiful garden surrounded by plants, a quiet river, and an old tree that the sun peaked through during their first kiss. While Robert John checked his watch and waited for his bride, you could sense his nerves building up, but as soon as she appeared in an elegant Stella York gown a sense of calmness came over him and a huge smile appeared on both of their faces. The day was theirs.
While guests enjoyed cocktail hour in a floor to ceiling window room, otherwise known as the glass box, the three of us got to adventure throughout the venue to create some magical portraits. One of my favourite things about the Drake is the versatility. Each crevice of the property is somehow designed beautifully. There were so many photo opportunities that I didn’t want to stop shooting, but once their family style dinner rolled around, I knew it was time for me to go (crying inside). Luckily the couple saw me out with my hands full of desserts and cupcakes which was the cherry on top to the most beautiful afternoon.

A HUGE thank you to Sierra & Robert John for being a dream to work for. Thank you for trusting me to photograph your most special day and being so down to earth during the entire process. Every time I see a G-Wagon I think of you and your “That’s so Kardashian of you” remarks, hahaha. Love you both!
